Getting Ready
Boudoir sessions can be a powerful experience. They're a way to make you feel empowered in your own skin. I’m here to help you prepare with some holistic tips to ensure you feel comfortable and confident during your boudoir session.
PREPARING FOR
YOUR BOUDOIR SHOOT
WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?
- Outfits: For a one-hour shoot, I recommend bringing 1-3 outfits. For a mini-session, I recommend just one outfit. You’re also welcome to bring more than that and we can talk through the options together!
- Extras and Accessories: Different shoes, garters, robes, stockings, knee-high socks, different jewelry, etc. You can also bring something of your partner’s – like a button down shirt – to wear, or an oversized sweater.
- Lotion, Make-up, Hairbrush, Bobby pins, Hair ties, etc: Keeping your skin moisturized is always a good idea and bringing extra make-up and hair supplies is great for touch-ups between shots or outfits.
- Water and Light Snacks: I try to have snacks on hand but if you want something specific, it's a good idea to bring that! Definitely bring water, especially if your session is outside.
Leading up to the shoot
4 Weeks Out
- Dream up your concept and ideal outfits! Are you going for cute, coy, sexy, sweet, sultry? I can help you plan and sketch out the vibe you want to go for.
- Go shopping! Find the outfits and accessories you love, and make sure to order them with enough time to try them on and exchange them if needed.
3-5 Days Out
- Skin care: Do all of your exfoliating, waxing, tanning now so any redness can calm down!
- Keep your skin moisturized for the days leading up to your shoot.
- STAY HYDRATED! I know you're always drinking your water already. Keeping hydrated will have your skin glowing!
- Remove all of the clothing tags, even the sewn in ones, from all the items of clothing you plan on wearing. They all tend to stick out at some point.
- Treat yourself to a mani/pedi 😉 Guys too! You don’t need to paint your nails to enjoy the benefits of nicely trimmed nails, cleaned-up cuticles, and a nice hand/foot massage. Plus, it’s just kinda fun.
- If you’re doing your own hair and make-up, do a trial run to make sure that you know what you’re going to do on the day of.
The Night Before
- Make sure your boudoir bag is packed. This will include the things I mentioned above along with anything else you can think of! You can't be too prepared.
- Avoid salty food and a lot of alcohol.
- What might be most important getting a full nights rest so you can wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed!
The Day of Your Boudoir Session
- Come prepared with your hair and make-up done.
- Wear loose fitting clothing throughout the day to eliminate clothing lines left on your skin. Remove hair ties around your wrists or tight watches so there are no imprints on your skin. Underwear and socks, too!
- Eat a light meal or snack beforehand (no one wants to be hangry walking in the door).
- Allow yourself plenty of travel time so you’re not feeling rushed when you arrive.
